February 8th - 2015: BetterDesktopTool 1.84

We released BetterDesktopTool 1.84 containing the following changes:

• Added support for RocketDock (NOTE: for existing installations restore global application defaults)
• Changed custom keyboard shortcut rules (e.g. F1-F20 can be used dedicated now)
• Added possbility to select a window by pressing ENTER/RETURN key

January 2nd - 2015: BetterDesktopTool 1.83

We released BetterDesktopTool 1.83 containing the following changes:

• Improved compatibility to newest version of DisplayFusion
• Increased speed of Virtual-Desktop selection animation
• Fixed an issue where left/right mouse button could get mixed up

December 7th - 2014: BetterDesktopTool 1.82

We released BetterDesktopTool 1.82 containing the following changes:

• Fixed mouse/keyboard issue where BetterDesktopTool could stop responding to shortcuts
• Improved startup behaviour
• Improved Windows 8 compatibility: BetterDesktopTool now works with high-contrast themes
• Improved compatibility with Chrome

November 13th - 2014: BetterDesktopTool 1.81

We released BetterDesktopTool 1.81 containing the following changes:

• Fixed window selection issue by mouse
• Fixed installer problem causing end of trial although private usage was selected
• We offered a further version that does not require higher priviliges (e.g. admin rights). Please be aware that the Non-Admin version comes with some disadvantages (see Download section)

June 16th - 2014: BetterDesktopTool 1.8

We released BetterDesktopTool 1.8 containing the following changes:

• Added option to start and leave Window Overview when starting and leaving Virtual-Desktop Overview
• Added option to disable Hot Corners when the desktop is in Metro mode
• Added option to change the animation speed
• Improved keyboard shortcuts for better compatibility with other applications (e.g. Logitech Setpoint and Autohotkey)
• Fixed an issue that avoided to use the Tab key for user defined keyboard shortcuts

February 4th - 2014: BetterDesktopTool 1.71

We released BetterDesktopTool 1.71 containing the following changes:

• Added support for DisplayFusion
• Improved support for Google Chrome
• Fixed issues when installing BetterDesktopTool with another admin account
• Fixed an issue where BetterDesktopTool does not start any more

November 15th - 2013: BetterDesktopTool 1.7

After long absence we released BetterDesktopTool 1.7 containing the following changes:

• Added super/windows key to shortcuts and enabled usage of up to 3 modifier keys at a time
• Added shortcuts to directly switch to a particular Virtual-Desktop (0-9)
• Added shortcuts to directly transport a window to a particular Virtual-Desktop (0-9)
• Added shortcuts to directly send a window to a particular Virtual-Desktop (0-9)
• Fixed some minor issues
• Please be aware that all saved shortcuts will be reset after the installation of BetterDesktopTool 1.7
• Improved keyboard and mouse-wheel window switching for minimized windows

June 22nd - 2013: BetterDesktopTool 1.61

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.61 containing the following changes:

• Added window switching by keyboard (Tab/Arrow keys) and by mouse-wheel
• Fixed a minor problem with the trial and licensing system

May 14th - 2013: BetterDesktopTool 1.6

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.60 containing the following changes:

• Added shortcuts and gestures to directly transport windows between Virtual-Desktops
• Added option to raise Hot-Corners delayed
• Added option to enable or disable the red Indicator-Arrow for Hot-Edges
• Added more shortcuts for direct Virtual-Desktop switching
  
• Fixed a problem where the trial expired message was shown although private usage was selected
  
• NOTE: Support for window selection by keyboard shortcuts will also follow soon in the next version

April 30th - 2013: First new Version after the great rush

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.52 containing the following changes:

• We further optimized the animation smoothness. Nevertheless, the program requires a sufficient graphics card (A low-range integrated Intel HD4000 graphics card already worked very well for us)
  
• Improved version management to show recent changes and give an option to skip newer versions
• Implemented a check for the operating system to notify the user when the software won't run on his system
• Fixed compatibility problems with Wunderlist
  

April 27th - 2013: Fixed two minor issues

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.51 containing two minor changes:

• Fixed a problem where user-defined shortcuts were not added to the keyboard shortcut list
  
• Fixed an issue where label and icon of transparent windows were missing in overview
  

April 23rd - 2013: Release BetterDesktopTool 1.5

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.5 containing the following changes:

• Added Virtual-Desktop dragging (Virtual-Desktops can now be exchanged by dragging, additionally when holding the CTRL key while dragging all windows from one Virtual-Desktop are moved to another Virtual-Desktop)
• Added "Keep this window always on top" feature to the window context menu (right click a window in the Window-Overview mode)
• Added "Make this window transparent" feature to the window context menu (right click a window in the Window-Overview mode)
• Improved smoothness of all animations
• Optimized window arrangement in the Window-Overview mode
• Fixed a problem where windows were shifted by a distinct offset
• Settings will no longer be discarded by updates
• Fixed several minor issues
  

April 10th - 2013: New Multitouch-Devices: Logitech T620 Mouse and Microsoft Touch Mouse

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.43 containing the following changes:

• Added two new devices to support Multitouch-Gestures. Microsoft Touch Mouse and Logitech T620 Touch Mouse are now supported.
  

March 28th - 2013: Minor Changes

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.42 containing two minor changes:

• Fixed a problem where some third parity windows became accidentally visible after start-up.

March 11th - 2013: Multitouch-Gestures for Logitech T650 Touchpad

W e released BetterDesktopTool 1.41 containing Multitouch-Gestures for the Logitech T650 Touchpad:

• Added Multitouch-Gestures to support the Logitech T650 Touchpad (see Video). In the future we will extend the support for more touchpads. To enable Multitouch-Gestures goto "General" and click at "Enable Multitouch-Gesture Support for designated Touchpads".
  
• Added update checking.
  
• Improved/Added support for system utilities like XWidgets, XLaunchpad and Rainmeter.
  
• Improved/Added support for many Windows 8 Start-Menu applications.
• Fixed an issue where the Windows 8 taskbar was not treated correct in Multi-Monitor setups.
  
• Fixed an issue where the BetterDesktopTool-Settings-Window was shown incorrect in Window-Overview altough it was not visible on the desktop.

February 28th - 2013: New Options - BetterDesktopTool 1.4

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.4 containing multiple changes and fixes:

• Added a hint how to exclude windows.
• Made the entire application DPI-aware to enable support for DPI settings larger than 125%.
• Added an option to only show top-level windows in Window-Overview.
• Added an option to cancel system shutdown / logoff when there are applications remaining on hidden Virtual-Desktops.
• Added a window telling the user that BetterDesktopTool is minimized and closed to the tray.
  
• Added a tray menu item to enable / disable Virtual-Desktops.
• Added a tray menu item to bring all windows to the current Virtual-Desktop.
  
• Improved shortcut management and detection of collisions between different shortcuts.

February 4th - 2013: BetterDesktopTool 1.33 Released

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.33 containing the following changes and fixes:

• Added a hint where to add global windows.
  
• Fixed an problem with loading settings from old beta versions.
  

January 24th - 2013: BetterDesktopTool 1.32 Released

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.32 containing the following changes and fixes:

• Fixed a problem where icons in Window-Overview where not updated after making windows global/non-global by the context menu.
  
• Fixed an issue with Desktop-Overview causing windows that are docked left/right to half the screen were restored to the wrong position.
• Fixed several minor issues.

January 15th - 2013: Version 1.31 Released

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.31 containing the following changes and fixes:

• Improved the window arrangement for Window-Overview.
• Improved detection of direct desktop switching by the screen edges to avoid accidentally switching.
• Improved support for Windows DPI scaling.
  
• Fixed an issue where the user was able to close the switching arrow.
  

January 3rd - 2013: Beta Phase Ended - Version 1.3 Released

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.3. We improved several minor issues and finished the Beta-Phase with this version.

December 20th - 2012: Last Beta Version

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.24 Beta. Mainly we improved the user-interface to setup Virtual-Desktops and added functionality to directly switch and drag windows between Virtual-Desktops by moving the cursor to the screen edges. An issue where the vertical Virtual-Desktop count was not stored properly has also been solved. The next update will probably come in 2013. Have a merry Christmas time and a happy new year!
 

December 13th - 2012: Final Version Coming Soon - Trial Time Reset

Today we released BetterDesktopTool 1.23 Beta. Since we rescheduled the final release to January 2013 the trial period is restored. After installing BetterDesktopTool 1.23 Beta you will again have the full trial period of 30 days!
Primarily we improved the responsiveness of the entire application. We also fixed some minor issues with the keyboard shortcuts (Windows-Key is no longer available).

November 30th - 2012: Version 1.22 Beta Released

BetterDesktopTool 1.22 Beta is now available for download. The new version allows the user to define its own keyboard shortcuts.

November 27th - 2012: First Awards

Although BetterDesktopTool is still in testing phase the Software received two 5/5-Star Awards from FindmySoft.com and Soft82.com.

 

November 26th - 2012: Version 1.21 Beta Released

BetterDesktopTool 1.21 Beta is now available for download. The new version offers better performance under Windows 8 and several smaller issues have been fixed.

November 19th - 2012: First Beta

Today we released our first public Beta-Version BetterDesktopTool 1.2.
